-ology is a combining form denoting a subject of study or interest
collective is an adjective meaning done by people acting as a group
Collectivology was initiated in 2007 by Sam Freeman and Mike Hadland.
Previous descriptions of what Collectivology is about have referred to the bringing together of groups of music makers that we have known and worked with since 1995.
The motivation for this was/is twofold :
_1. to establish a shared archive of the music and stuff we have made
_2. to create new collaborations
32 months or so later, some of this has happened, and maybe more still will…
We are friends of friends,
disperse and diverse,
we make music and art apart,
and sometimes we make music together,
maybe collectivology.net is like a second home online -
collaborations are listed and hosted here,
and there are links out to our other pages and projects
